Calangianus combines culture, landscape and activity in different ways. For you as a traveller, this means that the Santa Giusta Museum, the Chiesa di San Leonardo, the Cork Museum and trails to historic places each offer a different focus. When choosing a holiday apartment in Calangianus, you can therefore make your preferred daily rhythm the starting point – with museums and history or with walks and cycling tours.

Culture between museums and churches

The Santa Giusta Museum is located in the Oratorio del Rosario, within a parish complex that also includes the Santa Giusta parish church and the Oratorio di Santa Croce. Its museum tour leads through three rooms and conveys the complex history of the Calangianus community. The town’s former Capuchin monastery houses the Cork Museum. It presents video installations, scents and depictions of local craftspeople.

The Chiesa di San Leonardo lies within the administrative boundaries of the municipality of Calangianus and is considered one of the oldest churches in the area. Together with the two museums, it forms a cultural programme that combines ecclesiastical buildings, the history of the community and local craftsmanship.

A Bronze Age burial site in the cork oak forest

The Tomba di giganti di Pascareddha lies in a cork oak forest at the northern foot of Monte di Deu. It is a burial site built from rows of stones, with a vaulted stele. Its rectangular burial corridor is 12.5 metres long, 0.90 metres wide and 0.90 metres high. The site dates from the Middle and Late Bronze Age.

Trails and practical orientation

When planning this visit, the route itself is an important part of the day. Access to the Tomba di giganti di Pascareddha is via a trail approximately 800 metres long; after the wooden bridge over the Rio Badu Mela, another 200 metres follow. In the Parco archeologico di Monti di Deu, the trails cross streams via wooden bridges; they can be used on foot, on horseback or by mountain bike. This connects the historic site with a landscape that allows for different forms of mobility.

Choose a holiday apartment in Calangianus according to your daily plans

The former railway line also offers a different perspective on the journey. The Ciclovia ex Ferrovia Monti–Calangianus–Tempio Pausania follows a disused railway line and runs for approximately 34 kilometres between Monti and Calangianus. The former Calangianus–Monti railway line was almost entirely designated for bicycles; the exception was a short section on a local road. The Calangianus–Monti route is suitable both for cycling and walking. When choosing your holiday apartment in Calangianus, you can therefore weigh up whether to focus on cultural sites or on an activity-oriented route.
