Sos Alinos combines peaceful nature observation, coastal landscapes, guided activities and a distinctive local history. Between Stagno di Sos Alinos, Cala Liberotto and the Oasi di Biderosa, you can enjoy a variety of holiday experiences: one day taking in the reeds and birds, another on golden sand or following a route through the hills. A holiday apartment in Sos Alinos can also be chosen according to the experiences that interest you most during your stay.
Lagoon, Bays and Coastal Forest
Stagno di Sos Alinos lies behind Cala Liberotto and is lined with reeds and agaves. The body of water provides a habitat for resident and migratory birds. This makes nature the central feature of the area, shaped not only by its landscape but also by its wildlife. Cala Liberotto itself is an emerald-green bay with coarse-grained golden sand and pale rocks.
Around Sos Alinos, the Oasi di Biderosa encompasses five white-sand bays within an 860-hectare coastal forest. To protect the environment, the Oasi limits the number of visitors; entry and services can be reserved online. Cala Liberotto can be reached from Sos Alinos via the SS 125 towards Orosei, following the signs near the beginning of the town.
Cycling Tours from Sos Alinos
Let's Bike Sardinia offers guided and self-guided tours starting from Sos Alinos. The routes lead into the hills and to the sea. At the provider's shop in Sos Alinos, you can also book tours and rent bicycles. The Country Bike Tour Around Mount Istiozza starts there and heads west towards the granite hills.
Another option is the 4x4 tour through Baronìa, between the sea and the mountains of the Gulf of Orosei. Sos Alinos, alongside Orosei, is a meeting point at 08:30. Depending on whether you prefer to spend the day cycling, in an off-road vehicle or along the coast, your planning will have different focuses.
Local History and Living Traditions
The Church of Sant'Antonio Abate is located at Piazzale S. Antonio Abate 1, 08028 Sos Alinos, Orosei. The premises of the Borgata Sos Alinos were inaugurated in 1962. The rural settlement was established on the initiative of the Cassa di Mezzogiorno and financed with state funds. Since the early 1980s, Sos Alinos has also had a tradition of residents of the borgata building allegorical floats.
In 2014, there was a San Giovanni festival featuring locally produced suckling pig; in 2026, a tasting of roasted and stewed lamb was planned. As part of the celebration, the saint was taken on an ox cart to Cala Liberotto's main beach after the religious ceremony. Local folk groups accompanied the procession in traditional dress.
When choosing a holiday apartment in Sos Alinos, you can use your preferred daily rhythm as a starting point: nature observation at the stagno, coastal scenery at Cala Liberotto and Biderosa, cycling tours starting in the town or cultural impressions appeal to different interests.
