CAI Trail 578 begins at Strada Val Mastallone near Ferrera at 740 m and leads to Alpe Vairolo at 1,658 m. The summit of Cavallo (Kaval) is at 1,895 m; the ascent from Ferrera takes about four hours.

In the chapel of San Giovanni Battista, a niche was created in the left wall to house Eugenia. To protect Eugenia’s urn from moisture, it is currently located directly on the altar mensa of the same chapel. On 3 October, the presumed martyr Eugenia was transferred to the parish church of San Pietro in Ferrera; this took place as part of a large celebration.
The annual celebration in Eugenia’s honour takes place on the last Sunday in July; in the past, it was celebrated more solemnly. The former school building in Ferrera is home to the Incontro group, which has been organising cultural activities and initiatives relating to local history, the people and local traditions for some time. Alongside the mountain trails, these specific places and events give the stay a cultural dimension.
