Venasca offers several different perspectives: the historic centre features Baroque religious architecture and distinctive buildings, while circular trails lead through chestnut forests, hamlets and higher elevations. There are also musical and educational activities, options for families with children and a strong chestnut tradition. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Venasca, you can choose your accommodation according to the combination of culture, outdoor activity and seasonal experiences you prefer.
Baroque centre and sacred art
The historic centre of Venasca includes the monumental parish church of Maria Vergine Assunta. The Baroque building has an octagonal floor plan. The monumental Casa della Torre is also part of the historic centre, adding another distinctive feature to the townscape.
Just a few steps from the parish church, a fresco of the Trinity can be found on an exterior wall of the Casa della Canonica. It depicts the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit giving a blessing. The central cultural sights in the town centre are therefore closely connected to one another, without this implying any particular route.
Other sacred sights include the Santuario di Santa Lucia on the road to Isasca. It is decorated with frescoes by the artist Netu Borgna, who came from Martiniana Po. The Santuario di Peralba is located just beyond the hamlet of Bricco, in a scenic position.
In the Borgo Ribodino area, some wall fragments of a castle complex built in the early Middle Ages are still visible. Today, the complex is almost completely destroyed. It is precisely this contrast between surviving details and largely vanished structures that makes the historic character of these places perceptible in different ways.
Trails with different profiles
The Anello di Cresta begins on Via Provinciale Piasco next to the Carabinieri station and runs along the watershed between the Val Varaita and the neighbouring valleys. The Anello delle 7 Chiesette leads to a beautiful viewpoint at an altitude of 1,135 metres.
The Anello delle 4 Chiesette is an easy circular trail that can be walked year-round through chestnut forests, hamlets and small churches. The Anello di Pluf is a circular trail with activities for families with children; the activities on offer take about two hours in total.
A holiday apartment in Venasca to suit your interests
When choosing your holiday apartment in Venasca, you can focus your stay on these different themes. The historic centre and sacred sights will particularly appeal to those interested in culture, while the circular trails offer various ways to enjoy physical activity and observe nature. Families with children can enjoy a separate type of experience on the Anello di Pluf, while the easy Anello delle 4 Chiesette provides another option for a relaxed day of hiking.
Music, learning and playful discovery
La Fabbrica dei Suoni is located in the restored premises of the former La Trancia sawmill. It has spaces for cultural, musical, educational and recreational activities. The venue thus combines the history of a former sawmill with a varied cultural programme.
La Fabbrica dei Suoni is also a themed park aimed primarily at school students. There, a journey from sound to music leads through themed rooms, workshops and playful educational activities.
Chestnuts and scheduled events
Every year in October and November, chestnuts are traded on Mondays and Thursdays in Piazza Martiri in Venasca. The chestnut therefore shapes not only the forests along one of the circular trails, but also a recurring event in the town.
In 2026, the patronal festival Festa patronale di Santa Lucia is scheduled to take place from 18 September to 21 September 2026. The 35th Mostra Mercato della Castagna is scheduled to take place from 16 October to 20 October 2026.
