Holiday apartment in Trezzo Tinella – Hiking between the Langhe and Monferrato

Between the Tinella springs, the Langhe and Monferrato

Trezzo Tinella lies at the source of the Tinella stream and on the border between the Langhe and Monferrato. This location makes the town particularly interesting if you would like to combine experiences in nature with regional history. When choosing a holiday apartment in Trezzo Tinella, you can therefore consider which pace of travel suits you: a day of hiking at the springs, a cycling tour through the landscape, or an excursion to churches and places of remembrance. The different options give your trip a clear framework without making every day look the same.

Hiking along the Sentiero delle sorgenti del Tinella

The Sentiero delle sorgenti del Tinella is a circular trail approximately 9 km long. It reaches the source of the Tinella stream and then returns to Trezzo via a scenic ridge. In this way, the trail combines the town’s direct connection with nature with a route that can be planned as a continuous experience. The return to Trezzo is part of the circuit and leads back into the town after crossing the ridge. A day of hiking therefore follows the route from the source over the ridge to the starting point in Trezzo. The return route is part of the same trail and not a separate section.

Cycling tour, church and landscape at Bric Boscasso

The stage of the Strada Romantica delle Langhe e del Roero near Trezzo Tinella begins and ends at the parish church of Sant’Antonio Abate. It is a moderately difficult cycling tour of approximately 16 km on asphalt and gravel. The approximately 9 km of the circular trail and the approximately 16 km of the cycling tour represent two active routes of different lengths. On the bike, the alternation between asphalt and gravel is part of the route; when hiking, the source and ridge follow one another on the way back to Trezzo. The starting and ending point at the parish church keeps the cycling tour geographically tied to Trezzo Tinella. The church thus brings together architectural history and the route in one place.

At Boscasso, there is a parking area providing access to the 360-degree panoramic viewpoint at Bric Boscasso. The stage point of the Strada Romantica is located there on the watershed between the Cherasca and Belbo valleys and is surrounded by vineyards.

Churches and places of remembrance

The parish church of Sant’Antonio Abate is a Piedmontese neoclassical building with a barrel vault. In Roman times, Trezzo was a transport hub on the Via Magistra Langarum, which connected Alba with Cortemilia and the towns on the Riviera. The historical places of remembrance also include Cascina Langa: it served hundreds of partisans as a reliable shelter and resting place. It is also mentioned in Fenoglio’s writings; he lived there in exile during the winter of 1944/45.

The Donna di Langa monument in Piansarìn was erected to honor the women of the Langhe and their role in the history of the local communities.
