Holiday apartment in Beinette: discover frescoes, nature and regional traditions

The Santuario della Madonna della Pieve, Lago di Beinette and Parco di Rifreddo represent different thematic focal points in Beinette. The Santuario della Madonna della Pieve was first mentioned in 1041. Its interiors are completely decorated with frescoes. Celebrations during the Marian month and on Ascension Day are associated with the Santuario. These two festive occasions mark different points in the religious year.

Frescoes, chapels and religious traditions

The Cappella dell’Annunziata dates from the early years of the 17th century. Its frescoes dedicated to the Virgin Mary are dated to 1611. The fresco cycle was restored in 2007 and attributed to Antonio Bodrito. The chapel thus brings together an early construction period, a clearly dated fresco cycle and a later restoration.

The Confraternita di Santa Croce is also part of Beinette’s history and is known here as Crusà. It dates back to the second half of the 15th century, while the present building dates from the early 17th century. In Beinette, Crusà is therefore the local name for the Confraternita di Santa Croce. In December, the Confraternita hosts a nativity-scene exhibition that has by now become a tradition. The hamlets around the local chapels also preserve liturgical traditions associated with the chapels’ commemorative celebrations. The December exhibition and the commemorative celebrations associated with the chapels refer to different seasonal occasions.

Water landscapes and nature observation

Lago di Beinette is the largest risorgiva in Piedmont and, in terms of water flow, the second largest in Italy. The comparison with Italy refers specifically to water flow. The lake has facilities for nature observation and is surrounded by old semiplanizial woodland, where endangered tree species such as the black alder are preserved. Lago di Beinette is also considered a destination for freshwater diving. Nature observation and diving both refer to the same lake.

The Il Fosso wetland lies in a completely untouched landscape and has distinctive ecological and scenic features associated with water. Il Fosso can be reached on foot or by bicycle. Access can therefore be planned on foot or by bicycle, while the wetland’s water-related character is preserved.

Picnicking and fitness at Parco di Rifreddo

A large picnic area has been established in Parco di Rifreddo, with barbecue facilities, tables, benches, partially covered seating areas and toilets. In addition, a multi-stage fitness trail with tested training equipment has been installed there. The park’s facilities thus combine a specifically equipped picnic area with a dedicated exercise trail.
