Art and sacred sites

A painting attributed to Charles Dauphin, dating from the second half of the 17th century, hangs on the main altar of the church of Sant'Antonio Abate. The former castle of Aramengo stood on the Rocca beside the present parish church of Sant'Antonio Abate. A plaque at the Cappella di Sant'Anna commemorates the fact that Giovanni Bosco preached his first public sermon there in 1840, while he was still a deacon.

The Cappella di Sant'Anna is said to have been first built during the plague of 1348 and rebuilt in the mid-17th century. Its main altar features a painting of the Madonna between Sant'Anna and San Gioacchino. The lunette of the Cappella di San Rocco in Marmorito depicts Saint Roch. At the centre of the artwork Terzo Paradiso in Aramengo is the work “Volto di Madre Natura”. The Laboratorio Nicola Restauri in Aramengo offers guided tours by appointment.

Circular trails through Monferrato

GT.P 17 – La Via delle Orchidee is an approximately 15-kilometre circular trail that runs mainly through the municipalities of Berzano di San Pietro and Aramengo and also crosses part of the territory of Albugnano. The trail has an optional approximately 7-kilometre return detour to the hamlet of Marmorito in Aramengo, where the Bonardina is located, an artistic installation by the Big Bench Community Project, numbered 90. The Bonardina stands in the hamlet of Marmorito Santa Maria among Bonarda vineyards.

Route GT.P 02 leads to Aramengo and then descends to Masio, where the church of San Giorgio is located. The church of San Giorgio in Masio is a restored rural chapel of Romanesque origin.

Festival and wine

During the Feast of the Madonna della Neve, a mass and a procession take place on the evening of 5 August. The Piemonte DOC Sauvignon “Bricco del Priore” by Cascina Quarino is associated with vineyards in the municipality of Aramengo on San Giorgio hill.
