Castello di Montelabbate was probably built by the abbots of San Tommaso in Foglia around the 12th century. The surviving fortifications include 15th-century walls with a triangular ground plan and three towers. Castello Farneto complements this picture as a small fortified village within the walls of a manor house dating from the 10th century, whose structure has largely remained intact.

An important link between landscape and history is the Abbadia di San Tommaso in Foglia. It lies near the mouth of the Fosso Apsella into the Torrente Apsa, a tributary of the Foglia. Numerous large downy oaks (Quercus pubescens) grow in the surrounding area. The Benedictine monastery was built around the 10th century; Pope Clement II died there on 9 October 1047. Today, only the Romanesque church remains of the Abbadia, with a tripartite gabled façade built from sandstone blocks and bricks.

Quirico e Giulitta was built between 1777 and 1814 and houses the “Cena degli Apostoli” by Domenico Peruzzini, dating from 1629. It contains 11 works of art donated by Leonardo Nobili to the municipality, representing stages of his artistic career from the 1980s to 2009. Rossini” was founded in 1892 and took part in numerous concerts and events in France, including in Caen and Le Havre, in Germany, and in 2002 in the international Band Marathon event in Prague, in the Czech Republic. The “Rossini serio” concert at the Chiesa di San Martino in Farneto was part of the Salons Rossini concert series, which was included in the programme of events leading up to the Rossini Opera Festival.

The history of the surrounding area also includes Quota 111: in the summer of 1944, the Gothic Line ran through this position. During a swift and violent bayonet attack on the position at Quota 111, the German troops stationed there surrendered; this opened the first breach in the Gothic Line. The traditional Festa di Sant'Eurosia returns to Farneto in 2026. It includes a procession through Farneto with the image of the saint, accompanied by the traditional Scampanata, the ringing of bells.

The first Sagra delle Pesche di Montelabbate took place in the summer of 1946. The programme of the 2026 Sagra delle Pesche at Parco Hornburg included tastings of Pesca di Montelabbate. The programme also featured the “Notturna delle Pesche”, a cycling event for mountain bikes and gravel bikes. Pescheto Folk is an event held at the end of summer, taking place in 2026 in the peach orchard of Azienda Agricola Pedini on Strada Montelabbatese. There, peach farmers and local producers talk about their work and the connection with Pesca di Montelabbate as a characteristic product of the region.
