The historic centre of Arquata del Tronto lies on a hill and is dominated by the imposing 13th-century Rocca, which commands the entire valley. At the same time, the Rocca di Arquata del Tronto rises on a rocky spur above the settlement; within its later fortifications stands an 11th- or 12th-century tower. Since Roman times, the Via Salaria has run through the area and was an important transport and trade route. In Trisungo, a milestone from the 1st century BC has been preserved from the ancient Via Salaria.

The Church of San Francesco in Borgo di Arquata houses an extract from the Shroud of Turin. In Capodacqua stands a 16th-century octagonal temple dedicated to the Madonna del Sole; the frescoes there are attributed to Cola d'Amatrice. The Diego-Pierpaoli Museum is located in the historic centre of Arquata and is associated with modern art and Immanentism, which was founded by Professor Diego Pierpaoli. Villa Papi is a house museum with a large park where the artist's creations merge with nature. A Turkish flag is kept in the Church of Sant'Agata in Spelonga. In Pretare, the remains of a lime kiln have also been preserved, in which limestone was processed to produce quicklime.
