Holiday apartment in Ceriano between culture and nature
One of the region’s prominent cultural destinations is the Monastero di Torba. It is a Lombard monumental complex within an archaeological park; this park has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In its tower, the Monastero di Torba preserves frescoes depicting Christ, the Virgin Mary with the Child, a group of saints and a row of praying nuns. These pictorial details give the historic site a tangible, vivid character and make it interesting for travellers who are interested not only in buildings but also in their artistic furnishings.
Further religious motifs can be found in the Chiesa di San Vittore Martire. The vault is considered to be completely covered with frescoes and decorations; depicted are the glorification of Saint Victor the Martyr, the four cardinal virtues and the four Evangelists. The Chiesa di Maria Santissima Bambina has a façade with a decorative copper element and a mosaic of the Annunciation above the entrance. In the Chiesa di Santa Maria di San Salvatore, you will find a single-nave church with a venerated miraculous image of the Virgin Mary.
Trails, park landscapes and historic traces
The trails also combine nature experiences with orientation. The Sentiero del Tenore follows the course of the Tenore through a natural setting. From the Archaeological Park of Castelseprio, routes lead to the Dorsale RTO, the Sentiero Tenore, the Ticino–Seprio connection and towards Carnago. The Archaeological Park of Castelseprio comprises the remains of the ancient city of Castel Seprio that are open to visitors.
For cycling planning, the Ferrovia Valmorea is also connected with Ceriano via the same cycling map. On the Pista ciclopedonale dell'Olona, pedestrian and bicycle traffic was temporarily suspended from 17 August to 3 September 2026 on the section between Castiglione Olona and Gornate, the San Pancrazio district, due to extraordinary maintenance work.
Water and wetlands as a natural feature
Numerous small streams originate in the Parco Rile-Tenore-Olona, fed by spring water and precipitation. Along the Pista Ciclopedonale della Valle Olona, several wetlands are located between Castelseprio and Cairate in the PLIS RTO and near Fagnano in the PLIS Medio Olona. They are important for the reproduction of amphibians, dragonflies and other pond-dwelling insects.
Further places for your trip planning
As an additional option, you can also consider Musignano, Malgesso, Comerio, Comabbio, Gornate Olona, Tornavento, Reno and Arsago Seprio for further planning.
