Castle history and sacred spaces

The Chiesa Parrocchiale was built in 1496 within the old castle perimeter, on the foundations of a former court chapel. It houses an oil painting on wood by Bernardino Lanino from the late 16th century.

The Torre di Rosasco is one of the surviving structures of the old castle. It rises 25 metres high in the highest part of the historic town centre; from its top, it offers an impressive view of Rosasco and the surrounding area. The tower thus creates a striking feature in the historic townscape.

The Chiesa di San Giuseppe was built in the 17th century by the Confraternity of Saint Joseph. It has a single-nave layout with a presbytery and semicircular apse, as well as a tall bell tower. The Cappella dell'Ossario complements the sacred architecture as an elegant Baroque building from the first half of the 18th century.

Il Santuario is a small sanctuary that was largely rebuilt in the 18th century. Over time, funerary chapels and an elegant portico in the Neoclassical style were added. The Festa Patronale di San Valentino takes place every year on 14 February, marking a fixed date in Rosasco's annual calendar.

La Cerchiara adds a landscape perspective: approximately 20 hectares of the wetland lie within the Rosasco area; a similarly sized area is located in the neighbouring hamlet of Celpenchio. The Garzaia di Celpenchio natural monument lies in a wetland within the municipal areas of Rosasco, Castelnovetto and Cozzo.
