Godiasco between history and the Staffora trails

Godiasco combines visible local history with trails along the Staffora and excursions to Salice Terme. A section of the 13th-century town wall can be seen together with two preserved towers: one stands on Via del Castello, the other on Via della Cerchia. The towers are made of stone and river pebbles and decorated with a band of brickwork.

Hiking with varied trail profiles

Circular trail 170 starts and ends in Godiasco, is 7.5 kilometres long and has a moderate difficulty level. It climbs the northern slope of the Staffora with panoramic views as far as Gomo, then continues along a paved road to Verone and returns from there to Godiasco. Hiking trail 171 connects Godiasco and Salice Terme along the orographically left bank of the Staffora; halfway along, a short detour allows visitors to visit Montalfeo. The short detour to Montalfeo is halfway along the route and can therefore be planned as a stop along the trail.

The Voghera–Varzi Greenway is a 33-kilometre paved cycle and pedestrian path that follows the route of the railway line between Voghera and Varzi, which has been disused for more than half a century. The paved surface of the Greenway shapes the 33-kilometre route just as much as the former railway track. The Panchina Gigante di Godiasco #247 is located at a site almost 500 metres above sea level and offers panoramic views from Monviso to Monte Rosa and from Monte Penice to Monte Giarolo.

Salice Terme: Park, thermal waters and lavender

The historic spa park of Salice Terme features centuries-old trees and shady avenues and is ideal for relaxing, walking and playing sports. The thermal waters of Salice Terme come from underground basins of marine origin and from sulphurous springs. In the hills above Salice Terme, including Alta Collina, lavender fields appear every year, blossoming from late June to early July. The flowering period from late June to early July makes the lavender fields a seasonal landscape feature of early summer.

Church, manor house and active excursion

The Church of San Siro and Santa Reparata is located in today’s Piazza Cagnoni in Godiasco. It was built in the 12th century and is dedicated to the two saints. Palazzo Malaspina, a manor house of the Malaspina family, stands beside the old church in Godiasco; the palazzo is privately owned. To access the courses at Parco Avventura Salice Terme, you need a ticket and must attend the briefing conducted by the person responsible for safety. The ticket includes personal protective equipment, instruction in movement and safety techniques, and supervision by the responsible staff.
