Holiday apartment in Sant'Angelo Lodigiano: Museums, History and Trails

Sant'Angelo Lodigiano can be explored on several levels: the Museo del Pane, historic buildings, religious sites and specific routes provide themes for days planned in different ways. The Museo del Pane was founded in 1983 and is the first national museum of its kind in Italy. It displays more than 500 bread moulds from the regions of Italy as well as from many European and non-European countries. The bread moulds are presented as an independent exhibition theme alongside the town's historic and religious sites.

Museums and sacred spaces around Santa Francesca Cabrini

The Casa Natale di Santa Francesca Cabrini houses a small historical museum and a documentation centre. The Casa Museo di Santa Francesca Cabrini presents, in chronological order, objects and documents from her family environment, childhood and youth, as well as from her missionary work.

Every year on 15 July, the Casa Natale celebrates Santa Cabrini's birthday by releasing hundreds of doves, along with a series of religious, artistic and cultural events.

The Chiesa di S. Rocco is a rectangular brick church with a single-nave layout, three side chapels, a square presbytery and a bell tower. The church therefore allows visitors to examine the floor plan and individual structural elements as concretely as the chapels and bell tower.

Castello Bolognini and historical collections

Castello Bolognini is historically distinctive: it is an example of 13th-century Lombard military architecture on the banks of the Lambro. In 1383, Regina della Scala, the wife of Bernabò Visconti, converted it into an aristocratic residence; she had the main tower built and bifora windows installed in the walls. These structural changes thus form part of the documented development of the Castello from military architecture into an aristocratic residence.

The Casa-Museo Morando Bolognini comprises 24 rooms with furniture, paintings and ceramics from the period between the 18th and 20th centuries. The Museo sulla storia dell'agricoltura covers the history of agriculture from the Neolithic period to the present day. The two museums work with clearly different time spans: the Casa-Museo focuses on several centuries of residential and collecting culture, while the agricultural museum focuses on the long development of agriculture.

The Cappella della Madonna del Rosario dates from the 15th century. Its dating adds another sacred reference from the Late Middle Ages to the history of the town.
