The Museo Cabriniano preserves rooms, objects, items of clothing and memorabilia with a direct or indirect connection to Santa Francesca Cabrini and to the origins of the Institute of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus founded by her. The museum was established in 1973 in the rooms of the motherhouse opened by Santa Francesca Cabrini and houses numerous works and objects that belonged to the saint.

The Raccolta D'Arte Lamberti was opened in 1973 on the initiative of the painter Giuseppe Novello. Today it is located in the palazzo on Via Cavallotti in Codogno and bears the name of the collector and painter Carlo Lamberti. Visitors with reduced mobility can use an accessible entrance through the courtyard and a lift; prior contact by telephone is required for this.

The grounds of Villa Biancardi include a large tree-filled park, a greenhouse, a swimming pool, the former stables and the gatekeeper's lodge. Work on the villa, based on a design by the Florentine architect, sculptor and decorator Gino Coppedè, lasted from 1907 to 1911. The park is accessible at street level for people with reduced mobility. Access to the ground floor of the villa is via a goods lift at the side entrance; a lift is available for the first floor.

Squares, buildings and traces of history

Piazza XX Settembre dates back to 1652 and was designed by the architect Barattieri. Also in 1652, Barattieri designed the Loggia dei Mercanti on the initiative of Cardinal Teodoro Trivulzio and Mayor Baldassarre Dragoni.

The Chiesa di San Teodoro is also known as “del Cristo” and features a bold dome designed by Carlo Antonio Albino, set on a high octagonal drum. It was completed in the first half of the 17th century. Archaeological traces of the foundations of the medieval castle and the surrounding moat have also been preserved in Codogno.

The Fiera di Codogno was established as an annual fair in 1791; the first event began on 17 November 1791. Historically, wheels of Grana cheese from Codogno were transported along the Po as far as Venice.

Cycling route along the old bed of the Po River

The “Lungo l'antico alveo del Po” cycling route runs through the Parco dell'Adda Sud. It follows a section of the old bed of the Po River and then returns to Codogno.
