Molteno lies in a valley landscape framed by hills and preserves distinctive traces of its local history. The oldest inhabited settlement core is located on Ceppo, a predominantly rocky hill. Another highlight is the traditional Sagra di San Rocco. It takes place from 14 August to 17 August 2026 at the Oratorio di San Giovanni Bosco in Molteno. The event provides a clear calendar date alongside the town's historical and nature-related themes.

Molteno's transport history

Molteno railway station opened in 1888 upon completion of the Como–Lecco line. In 1911, with the establishment of the line to Monza, it became a junction station. The two years mark two historical phases in the development of the station. The railway connections complement the themes of Ceppo, the churches and Villa Rosa with another link to the town.
