The mountain trails around Cremeno include easy-to-walk mule tracks and paths at comparatively low elevations, which can be combined into a variety of hikes. One circular route leads from Maggio, a hamlet of Cremeno, in the Fontana di San Lorenzo area, along mostly unpaved paths to the pastures of the Culmine di San Pietro pass.

For an e-MTB tour, the trail from Forcella di Olino to Culmine di San Pietro is a good option: it can be ridden in both directions and connects with other trails leading to the Piani di Artavaggio. The 1,666-metre-high Monte Due Mani has a large cross and an igloo-shaped bivouac at its summit.

The Anello Cremeno/Maggio circular route follows historic paths used by local residents before the Ponte della Vittoria was built in 1925 and, before that, across a metal suspension footbridge. At the Canale Guzzi, technical history also meets a route through the forest: the impressive structure was built between 1947 and 1948 between streams and mountain torrents to supply the Moto Guzzi company in Mandello del Lario with electricity, and was converted into a path accessible to everyone.

Historic churches and bridges

The Church of Santa Maria Nascente in Maggio, a hamlet of Cremeno, was built from 1680 to 1683 and blessed in 1684. In 1905, it was extended and decorated by the painter Rivetta. Since 1948, it has had its present set of five bells.

Outside the Church of San Giorgio in Cremeno stand the Stations of the Cross chapels, built in 1772. The ancient church is located on the Valsassina plateau; following Cardinal Federico Borromeo’s pastoral visit in 1614, it was intended to be demolished and rebuilt.

The Ponte della Vittoria is 75 metres long, 96 metres high and 5 metres wide. Despite being reinforced in 1984, its original architectural features have been preserved. An inscription on the bridge commemorates those who fell in the First World War.

In Cremeno, the San Rocco procession has taken place every year on 16 August since 1836, travelling from the parish church of San Giorgio Martire to the Church of San Rocco. The traditional Mercatini di Hobbistica will take place in Cremeno and the hamlet of Maggio in summer 2026 and will include embroidery, woodwork, crafts made from other materials, decoupage and floral arrangements, among other items.
