Holiday apartment in Picedo: Culture, Vineyards and Trails
Picedo is characterised by a strong concentration of vineyards and olive groves. Its historic centre was grouped around Piazzetta Olivieri and included the Chiesa di Sant’Antonio Abate.
Church and historic centre as a cultural focal point
The Chiesa di Sant’Antonio Abate was probably built in the 15th century in the late Romanesque style and contains 16th-century frescoes. The depictions include a Madonna and Child as well as the Nativity with Saint Francis. The age of the building and the frescoes therefore dates from different centuries.
Next to the Chiesa di Sant’Antonio Abate stands a preserved building regarded as a typical example of a 15th-century rustic building. Picedo also features sporadic evidence from the Roman period. The preserved building stands beside the church and thus forms a second specific reference point in the historic centre.
