Manerba Del Garda: Culture, Nature and Water by the Lake

Culture, History and Religious Buildings

The Museo Civico Archeologico della Valtenesi presents archaeological and landscape evidence from the Rocca, Sasso and Pieve di Santa Maria. The remains of a medieval castle can be found on the Rocca di Manerba del Garda. The castle remains complement the museum connection with visible architectural evidence. For days focused on culture, this theme combines landscape history with visible traces of past eras. The Rocca and the Church of San Giorgio represent two different types of architecture: medieval castle remains and Romanesque religious architecture.

The Church of San Giorgio is a Romanesque building constructed between the 11th and 14th centuries. It contains frescoes, including the Annunciation and Saint George fighting the dragon. The Chiesa di S. Lucia in Manerba del Garda dates from 1532. The dates are far apart: San Giorgio is dated to between the 11th and 14th centuries, while the Chiesa di S. Lucia dates from 1532.

San Sivino-Gabbiano in Manerba del Garda is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps. In Manerba del Garda and its districts, there are nine churches that form a cultural route through faith, art and landscape. The cultural spectrum therefore ranges from archaeological evidence to religious buildings.

Natural Areas and Paths by the Water

Manerba Lake Park covers 84.8 hectares of water between Porto Dusano and Isola di San Biagio. The Rocca and Sasso Nature Reserve is home to more than 60 bird species in five natural habitats. The water area and protected area give the town a clear connection with nature.

Water, Beaches and Boat Connections

Pisenze Beach is a free beach between Isola dei Conigli and the Rocca di Manerba, with clear water. At Pisenze Beach, SUP Garda offers stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and windsurfing, as well as equipment rental and lessons. At the beach, the water, sports, rentals and lessons come together in one location. At Pisenze Beach, visitors can choose from several water sports, including SUP, kayaking and windsurfing; rentals and lessons complement the activities on offer.

Boats operated by Navigazione Laghi depart from Porto di Dusano. From the Porto Torchio pier, water taxis to San Biagio Island depart every 15 to 30 minutes. Porto di Dusano and Porto Torchio therefore form two starting points for boat trips on the lake. When planning boat trips, the departure port is a factor to consider because Porto di Dusano and Porto Torchio serve different activities on the lake.
