The Castello di Pietra Ligure has stood on a rocky spur since Roman times and is considered the “stone” that gave the town its name. The Porta di Santa Caterina provides an insight into the former town fortifications. It was the northern gate of the old walled town centre and its main entrance. Through this gate, people reached the old cemetery and the former church of Santa Caterina, which was located outside the walls.

At the end of the pier stands a large iron anchor monument. Its anchor belonged to Admiral Nelson's fleet and was brought to light in the 1980s. The Anchor Monument has no architectural barriers. The Croce del Trabocchetto stands at a viewpoint on Trabocchetto hill. The present cross is seven metres high and was erected in 1965. You can reach the Croce del Trabocchetto by car or on foot. Ranzi is a district of Pietra Ligure. There, the “Stella di Ranzi” is maintained as an annual, long-established tradition of creating flower pictures.
