Holiday apartment in Beverino: village history on the Vara

Beverino combines a fortified hilltop village with the river landscape at the confluence of the Graveglia stream and the Vara. The settlement center has preserved its original appearance. Beverino between local history and landscape

Beverino was a small fortress used to guard the main routes toward the middle valley. Corvara also has a special historical role: in the Middle Ages, the village served as a link between the coast and the inland areas. The two places represent different historical functions: Beverino guarded the transport routes, while Corvara connected the coast with the inland areas in the Middle Ages.

Churches and preserved evidence

The parish church of Santa Croce was probably Romanesque and was extensively remodeled around 1600. The subsidiary church of San Cipriano is a 13th-century building. The chapel of San Cipriano, an outbuilding of the Pieve San Prospero di Vezzano, is partly covered at its base by alluvial deposits from the Graveglia stream. The two churches therefore differ in their historical dating: the Romanesque origin of Santa Croce remains probable, while San Cipriano dates from the 13th century.

Some original interior frescoes are still visible in the former church of San Maurizio. The church of San Remigio stands along the former road connecting Ceparana and Padivarma; its present building dates from the 16th century. The Oratorio dedicated to Santa Croce dates approximately from the 13th century. The remains of the medieval church of San Lorenzo are preserved in an 18th-century building. A regular date at Palazzo Costa

Palazzo Costa at Via Castagnarossa 15 is open to the public on the second Saturday of every month from 09:00 to 21:00. The corresponding agreement is valid until August 6, 2030. The opening schedule is monthly and fixed for the second Saturday of each month.
