The churchyard of the Millennium church "La Millenaria" offers views of the Gulf of Genoa and the profile of Monte di Portofino. Holiday apartment in Ruta for different day plans

From Ruta, trails lead towards Portofino and San Fruttuoso. The route from Ruta to Portofino begins at the Valico di Ruta, at the western end of the state-road tunnel, on the side facing Camogli. It forms the final stage of the Via del Mare, also known as the Via del Sale. In addition, the hiking route from Ruta to San Fruttuoso is 4.6 km long one way. The 4.6 km is specified as a one-way distance. If you return to the starting point, the total distance covered is correspondingly greater. For planning the day, the route back to Ruta therefore matters as well as the direction of the destination.

The Via Monti as a less direct alternative

Another option towards Portofino Vetta is the Via Monti. This route is less direct and less strenuous. About 300 metres from Ruta, the Via Monti meets the trail towards San Rocco. It then continues below the small church near the Portofino Vetta car park. The approximate indication of 300 metres places the access point in the area near Ruta. The route to Portofino Vetta follows a less direct line than a direct connection.

Woodland, open land and views of Camogli

The path to Bocche also reveals a distinctive landscape. It leads through mixed coppice woodland of hop hornbeams and chestnut trees and reaches Crocetta, which is surrounded by maritime pines. One section of the path runs across a level area surrounded by greenery and offers panoramic views of Camogli as far as the car-park area. The open section with its view of Camogli therefore creates a different landscape impression from the path through the coppice woodland.

La Millenaria and the Tigullio Museum

The Millennium church "La Millenaria" is a Romanesque rural church. On the old road from Bana, it served the local community. The Tigullio Museum Galleria d'Arte di Giuseppe Lebano is also located in the immediate vicinity of Ruta.
