The bell tower of the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista preserves traces of a watchtower dating from the 7th or 8th century; inside, a copy of the triptych created by Giovanni Barbagelata in 1499 is on display. The Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo was built in the Baroque style in the 17th century, with construction completed in 1693. It houses a triptych by Giovanni da Barbagelata dating from 1498. The Chiesa di San Lorenzo di Verici has medieval origins, was rebuilt in the 16th century and expanded in 1750. In the 1970s, a room from the former central nave and a section of the old exterior wall featuring a completely preserved 14th-century fresco were discovered there.

Novano is also located along the route. It is a Benedictine settlement from the 12th century and was one of the three oldest rectorates in the area. In Bargone stands Casa Fracchia, a 17th-century rural building with a garden. It is recognized as a building of particular cultural interest and served Umberto Fracchia as a home and refuge. Concerts and theater performances for around 150 seated people can be held in the auditorium of Villa Sottanis. The Festival Bandistico di Casarza Ligure takes place every year in September and celebrates local wind-band music.

Nature, Cycle Path and Special Excursions

The S. Margherita di Fossa Lupara–Casarza Ligure route also passes the prehistoric Lago di Bargone. At the end of this route, a visit to the “Parma Gemma” Museum can be reserved. Casarza Ligure’s dense network of paths leads through forests, ridges and scenic clearings. A cycle path crosses Casarza Ligure to Francolano and then continues into the Sestri area without requiring you to use the city traffic.
