The Ponte di Nascio is a bridge built in the 18th century over a deep gorge carved by the Rio Novelli. Trail Network, Circular Route and Fishing

The Anello del Monte Bossea circular route begins and ends at the Miniera di Gambatesa in Ne. It is easy, 5 km long and takes approximately one hour and 30 minutes, making its scope easy to factor into personal day planning. Ne’s trail network provides further connections beyond the circular route: it is directly connected to the Ligurian Levante coast and the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, and extends as far as the Via Francigena. In Ne, there is also the possibility of fishing in the Graveglia mountain stream. Fishing offers a different focus from the circular hike and the connecting trails that continue beyond it.

The Miniera di Gambatesa and Its Mining History

The Miniera di Gambatesa was Europe’s largest manganese mine and operated from 1876 to 2011. Mining was discontinued in 2011. The Miniera di Gambatesa is currently closed until further notice. The former museum route was divided into two sections: first, a guided tour and the characteristic mining train took visitors approximately one kilometre through the underground mine, followed by a walk through the geological, mineralogical and mining world. The mine is therefore a defining part of Ne’s history, but the former museum route is not currently an experience that can be used.
