A parish church on a hill, a cave believed to date from Roman times, and a festival tradition featuring a parade of floats offer different perspectives on Santa Lucia and the wider municipality. There are also opportunities for outdoor activities and offerings for younger age groups. When planning your holiday, you can weigh these themes according to what you would like to shape your stay most.

Parish Church and Archaeological Sites

The Chiesa di Santa Lucia is the parish church in Santa Lucia di Fonte Nuova. It stands on a hill to the right of Via Palombarese. A long flight of steps leads to the church from Via Palombarese; there is also a side entrance via a road. This distinction is useful for finding your way: you can choose between a flight of steps and a side road entrance.

Near Osteria delle Molette is the cave known as the Grotta di Santa Lucia, classified as being of presumed Roman age. Another archaeological landmark in the municipality is the Fonte Nuova well. It is located on Via di Fonte Nuova between Torricella and Quarto di Santa Lucia. The church, cave and well thus represent different historical connections and clearly identified locations.

Sagra and Celebrations with Specific Dates

The 48th Sagra delle Rose 2026 took place in Santa Lucia. Its programme included a Festival del supplì and food stalls. The traditional parade of allegorical floats followed Via Palombarese and ended in Piazza delle Rose. Temporary changes to traffic and parking were in effect from 27 May to 9 June 2026. If you would like to plan your stay around an event, check the dates and traffic regulations for the edition you plan to attend.

The celebrations in honour of Saint Lucia also offer a concrete insight into local festive traditions. On 13 December 2025, a solemn parish Mass was followed by a time of prayer, the blessing of a statue and fireworks at the Grotta di Santa Lucia. This sequence was part of the 2025 programme; the schedule may vary in other years.

Outdoor Activities, Landscapes and Offerings for Younger Age Groups

In 2019, the Trail delle Rose in Fonte Nuova followed a 13.2-kilometre route with mostly unpaved and some asphalt sections. A seven-kilometre section ran between Via Nomentana and Via Palombarese through Bosco Valle Cavallara, Bosco Mancini and Bosco Santa Lucia. The two measurements describe different aspects: 13.2 kilometres is the total route, while seven kilometres is the wooded section.

Santa Lucia has a public outdoor fitness area with equipment for exercise. The Area Fitness is on Via Palombarese at the junction with Via Irpinia in Località Santa Lucia. If you plan to use the facility on a particular day, check its current availability in advance.

The parish youth centre Oratorio Alessandra Prandelli offers children, teenagers and young adults a place for activities, workshops and social opportunities on weekday afternoons through its Cortile Aperto project. The offering may change seasonally. When planning your trip, it is therefore worth considering this programme as a separate focus alongside the historic sites and festivals.

Choosing the Right Focus for Your Holiday Apartment

When looking for a holiday apartment in Santa Lucia, you can start by considering your priorities: should the parish church be the cultural focus, are you mainly interested in an event programme with set dates, or would you like to include outdoor activities and offerings for younger age groups? The parish church is specifically located in Santa Lucia; the cave and well are associated with Osteria delle Molette and other locations in the wider municipality, respectively.
