The Chiesa di Santa Maria della Costa was built in 1682 at the behest of Maffeo Barberini on the site of a small prayer hermitage. In the second half of the 13th century, the Blessed Margherita Colonna (1255–1280) had founded it together with several fellow sisters.

Palazzo Mocci is home to the Museo Diffuso di Castel San Pietro Romano, or MuDi for short. In its Centro Visitatori, the development of the municipal area of Castel San Pietro Romano is presented from prehistory to the present day. Since 2016, MuDi has conveyed the history of the Prenestine area and its demo-ethno-anthropological heritage through digital installations and works of art.
