Saludecio between Murals, History and Landscape

Saludecio combines a historic town centre with unusual artistic motifs, sacred history and paths through the surrounding area. Particularly characteristic are the 50 Murales del Borgo: The open-air art exhibition showcases important and curious inventions of the 19th century and stretches along the town’s characteristic alleyways. A walk through Saludecio thus becomes a voyage of discovery with ever-changing images to admire.

Another focal point is the medieval Torre Civica. The tower is used as a venue for temporary exhibitions and complements the town’s changing cultural offerings. Families can include the murals, the Torre Civica and the other cultural sites as different stops in their daily itinerary, without having to focus on just one type of attraction.

Museum and Santo Amato Ronconi

The Museo di Saludecio e del Santo Amato brings together various aspects of the town’s history. On display are altarpieces from the churches of Saludecio, including Guido Cagnacci’s 1628 painting “Processione del SS. Sacramento”. One room is dedicated to Santo Amato Ronconi. It contains votive offerings as well as coffins in which the saint’s incorrupt body was kept at various times.

The museum’s historical perspective also reaches far back in time. The vestibule displays Roman and medieval finds from the area around Saludecio. These include a votive stone dedicated to the woodland god Silvanus from the 1st century BC, as well as a funerary inscription for the freedman Elio Elpideforo from the 3rd century BC. The collection therefore offers points of interest for travellers wishing to combine art, local history and earlier periods.

The town’s religious history also includes the Chiesa parrocchiale San Biagio – Santuario Santo Amato Ronconi. It was built between 1794 and 1803 and has an underground crypt in an elegant neoclassical style. The pilgrimage tradition also includes pilgrim routes from Rimini to Saludecio in May and from San Marino to Saludecio in September. These traditions give the journey a temporal and cultural framework, without limiting the stay to a single theme.

Trails through the Valle del Ventena

In the surrounding area, walking trails lead around the Castello di Cerreto and the Castello di Meleto towards the Valle del Ventena di Saludecio. There are trails for trekking and mountain biking. This makes it possible to complement a cultural stay with outdoor activities. The C.I.P. Welcome Room in Saludecio presents the area’s historical and cultural heritage and landscape through the four themes of history, culture, nature and food and wine, and supports the exploration of the two valleys.

When choosing a holiday apartment or holiday house in Saludecio, you can therefore consider which combination of local history, art, pilgrimage tradition and active days best suits your trip. Accommodation provides a starting point for your own planning; the specific focus depends on the experiences you would like to have locally. For further destinations to include in your travel plans, you can also find San Martino Dei Mulini, Case Di Pedrolara, Verucchio, Scavolino, Montefiore Conca, Montescudo, Passano and Montebello.
