Condofuri Marina: Coast and Grecanic Traditions

Condofuri Marina combines a distinctive coastal landscape with the cultural traces of the Grecanic tradition. The coastal strip opens into a plain between the deltas of the Torrente Agrifa and the Fiumara Amendolea and extends inland to the centre of San Carlo. The Metaponto–Reggio Calabria railway line also runs parallel to the coast within the municipality.

In the municipality of Condofuri, the Grecanic tarantella is one of the traditional dances; its roots reach back to antiquity. Bergamot is also one of the defining elements of Grecanic identity. In culinary terms, the Sagra della Lestopitta centres on lestopitta, a speciality closely connected with the culture and history of Grecanic communities.
