The Roman shipwreck Punta Scifo D lies in the Bay of Punta Scifo, approximately 160 metres southwest of the rocky cliff of Capo Pellegrino, at an average depth of six metres. The combination of historic cargo, precise find location and visible marble blocks gives the bay an unusual maritime dimension.

The marble group Eros and Psyche is also part of this historical context. It was found in the sea near Punta Scifo Beach and belonged to the cargo of a Roman shipwreck in this area. The tower at Capo Pellegrino was built in the early years of the 17th century. It was initially called Torre di Capo Pellegrino and later Torre di Scifo.
