San Lucido is considered a small jewel on the Tyrrhenian coast. The sea, historic Borgo, old paths and rocks, each with its own name, are among the defining features of San Lucido. The promenade, squares and stairways stand alongside the seasonal festivals and musical events.

Coast, promenade and marina

The Panoramica is a long promenade along Via Roma with views of the sea. It begins at the steps on Piazza Giacomo Matteotti and stretches westwards along the entire old Borgo. The Rotonda Miramare adds to this coastal area as a terrace overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea; it offers views of sunsets and is now used primarily for relaxation. The route connects a central square, the seafront promenade and the old Borgo.

A long staircase connects the historic centre of San Lucido with its marina. Tourists can use reserved Apecars to travel between the historic centre and the marina of San Lucido. The staircase and Apecars thus form two different connections between the same areas of the town.

Rocks off San Lucido

The rocks off San Lucido each have their own name and together form a veritable marine museum in the sea. During late-summer snorkelling trips off San Lucido, the rocks can be discovered from a different perspective. The perspective shifts from the waterfront area of the promenade and terrace to the area off the coast of San Lucido.

Historic paths and local details

In the Borgo, historic traces lead directly through the town. The paved Corso Umberto I runs from the old main entrance of the Borgo to the remains of the Castello. There are also the characteristic Supportici, which both connect and separate the lanes and small squares. Paving, stairways, lanes and small squares are different forms of the historic townscape.

The Silica e Reddra staircase once connected the sea with an old entrance gate to the Borgo and led via the paved Corso Umberto to the Rocca.

Festivals between the Borgo, sea and mountains

The patron-saint celebrations in honour of San Giovanni Battista take place in San Lucido every year from 22 June to 24 June. During “Benvenuti nel Borgo”, the event leads from the central Piazza Matteotti to the medieval castle situated above the sea. Architectural, monumental and scenic beauty provides the setting for the experience. The route and its surroundings connect the piazza, castle and landscape.

Normally, the Pro Loco San Lucido organises a live Festa della Musica event outdoors and in public places every year; admission is free for the public. For 27 years, the Pro Loco San Lucido has organised an event where tourists can discover and appreciate the lush mountains alongside the sea. The lush mountains thus complement the sea.
