Lendinuso: Sandy Coast and Nature Along the Canale Infocaciucci

Lendinuso combines a mostly flat, sandy coast with a seafront promenade that runs alongside the built-up area. The beach can be reached via the promenade and local roads; both routes provide clear points of reference for days by the water. There are signs of erosion in some parts of the coast, so the shoreline is not uniform throughout. Lendinuso is one of the coastal towns included in a project by the Municipality of Torchiarolo and the Apulia Region to enhance, redesign and protect the coastal landscape. The beach, seafront promenade and landscape are therefore among the defining themes of the coastal town as part of this project.

The Coast and Canal as Distinctive Natural Features

Another natural feature is the Canale Infocaciucci, which flows into the Marina di Lendinuso. Reeds and Mediterranean scrub grow along its banks, providing a habitat for migratory bird species. The canal adds a distinct riverside landscape to the coastal scenery, characterized by its vegetation and birdlife. A festival program was also announced, with plans to bring the Madonna di Lendinuso by boat in the evening from Canuta di Torchiarolo to “allu pizzu te li cuti,” where children and the local population were to welcome her. The planned boat journey and reception convey the sequence of a religious celebration, including a community gathering.
