Montesilvano combines eight kilometres of sandy beach with wide views across the Adriatic and surprising cultural discoveries. Those looking for a holiday apartment for a varied stay can choose between days by the sea, walks with views, historical impressions and excursions by regional train. The town’s different facets make it worthwhile to choose accommodation according to your preferred travel rhythm: should the focus be on the coast and promenade, or would you also like to discover the hills and history of Montesilvano?

Experience the beach, sea and landscape

Montesilvano offers sandy beaches, beach resorts, free beaches and promenades by the sea. For the 2026 bathing season, the municipality is providing two fully equipped, accessible public beaches. This makes the coastal area one of the defining experiences of the destination. Those who want to combine relaxing days by the sea with physical activity can also visit the Pontile di Via Finlandia. The wooden pier is located on the Aldo Moro seafront promenade at the level of Via Finlandia, extends out into the Adriatic and has been fully usable since 2021. It is suitable for panoramic walks and sunset photography.

Above the coast, Montesilvano also reveals a different character. The hills offer easy walking paths with sea views and connect the coast, villages and the inland landscape. From the Colle della Vecchia viewpoint, the 360-degree panorama stretches across the Adriatic, the seafront promenade and Pescara to the Abruzzo mountains of Gran Sasso, Maiella, Morrone and Monti della Laga. The mouth of the Saline River complements this landscape as an area of botanical and ornithological interest, where the natural coastal landscape can be observed.

Culture and special places in Montesilvano

The Museo del Treno at Montesilvano railway station provides cultural variety. It is open to visitors free of charge on Sundays from 10:30 to 12:00. Another notable place is the Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo at the most panoramic point of Montesilvano Colle. Based on architectural and historical considerations, it can be dated to the beginning of the 13th century in the absence of conclusive documentary evidence. Those interested in older architectural history can combine a visit to this site with the viewpoints and walking paths above the coast.

An unusual testimony to more recent architectural history is the former Colonia Stella Maris. It was designed in 1936 by the architect Francesco Leoni in the Rationalist style, with strong Futurist influences and a floor plan reminiscent of an aeroplane. Its historical status is part of its particular significance. Since 2021, the Pulpa Festival has also transformed Montesilvano into an open-air gallery through street art and urban art. Historical architecture and contemporary design thus meet, without confining the destination to a single holiday theme.

Montesilvano as a starting point

Montesilvano railway station is served by regional trains on the Adriatic railway line. The connection to Pescara Centrale usually takes 6–8 minutes. This provides a practical way to supplement a stay by the sea with a visit to Pescara, without structuring the entire holiday around a single type of excursion. When looking for accommodation, you can therefore consider whether you would mainly like to focus on the beach, elevated viewpoints, cultural sites or a combination of these experiences.

For further travel planning, you can also visit Pescara, Roccamorice, Torre De' Passeri, Caprara D'abruzzo, Micarone, Manoppello Scalo, Serramonacesca and Citta' Sant'angelo. Montesilvano itself is particularly well suited to travellers who want to combine the sea, open landscapes, views and independent cultural discoveries.
