Water
The beach at Sárvíz-tó is a designated natural bathing area in Gersekarát. More than 50 developed fishing spots are available on the side of the lake facing the municipality. On the eastern shore, there is an extensive, well-maintained grassy beach for summer recreation by the water. The park area of Gersekaráti Sárvíz-tó also has a designated separate dog beach. In the water quality assessment, Sárvíz-tó received an excellent rating.
Nature
North of Gersekarát lies the locally protected area “Legelő erdő”, a pure oak stand covering more than 15 hectares. Fias-tó is Gersekarát’s largest protected moor and covers 3 hectares and 2,079 square meters. Protected peat moss is found there. “Fiastó tanösvény” is a nature trail.
Culture
The Árpád-period church of Gersekarát is under national monument protection. Next to the church is a Calvary with the themed trails “Családok” and “Élővilág”. Millenniumi park features limestone and wooden sculpture groups as well as a Kneipp treatment facility.
The tradition of the pilgrimage associated with a procession Mass at the Karátföldi Bükkhegyi vineyard was revived in 2009 and has taken place annually ever since. The permanent exhibition at Gersekarát Primary School, which is open to everyone, provides insight into the students’ many years of local history and regional studies work, as well as their efforts to preserve traditions. The Gersekarát Falumúzeum displays everyday objects as well as household and decorative items from local life in earlier times.
