Houses, Church and Remembrance
Kalaznó’s traditional Swabian longhouses and half-timbered barns include patterned veranda posts, death doors, Art Nouveau stucco ornaments and windows with shutters. The view thus ranges from the forms of residential and farm buildings to individual decorative details. Another notable building is the late Baroque Protestant church, built between 1787 and 1790.
The church has a painted, U-shaped gallery balustrade. The panels near the altar depict Evangelists and Apostles; the sections of the gallery facing the organ show scenes from the life of Jesus. The motifs therefore vary from one section of the gallery to another. In the garden of the Protestant church stands a memorial to those who fell in the First World War, unveiled in 1934. It was created by sculptor László Schmidmann.
Collection and Life Stories
The Kalaznói Helytörténeti Gyűjtemény displays 180 catalogued objects, including traditional clothing, furniture, work tools and other everyday items. They are arranged in German, Székely and Upper Hungarian room settings. The layout thus complements the objects with three distinct cultural contexts.
Exhibition panels add further everyday activities: beekeeping, sheep farming, weaving and bread baking. These specific activities are presented alongside the collection’s objects. Elekes Dénes is the focus of a separate biographical section. His life story is presented through photographs, contemporary documents and personal belongings. Elekes was resettled in Kalaznó in 1945 and is buried there. Alongside objects arranged by theme, the story of one individual is also given space.
Walk Along Donát Creek
A walking path runs in Kalaznó along the right bank of Donát Creek, between two pedestrian passages. Becker Spring lies beside the Asó Passage and is named after the Becker family, who used to live nearby. There is a fire pit next to the spring for day-trippers.
