History

Maglód was granted town status on July 1, 2007.

Maglód is a town in the Vecsés District of Pest County, Hungary.

The town is located approximately 25 kilometers southeast of the center of Budapest and 8 kilometers northeast of Vecsés.

Maglód was first mentioned in 1352. After being devastated during the Ottoman Wars and the Rákóczi War of Independence, the town was resettled by Slovak serfs. The parents of Hungarian national poet Sándor Petőfi met in Maglód.

Route 31 and the Budapest M0 ring motorway run directly along the edge of Maglód; the town is connected to Budapest by rail and bus.
