Jászszentandrás combines thermal waters and bathing with religious art, ethnographic heritage and local history. The baths are set in an extensive, well-kept park dotted with trees; frescoes, a collection in a former school building and a memorial park offer other points of interest. For families with children, the three-lane slide is a specific summer attraction. This gives the town a range of themes to consider when planning your holiday and choosing a holiday rental.

Art, Collections and Remembrance

The Jászszentandrás tájház (local heritage house) is located in the former Szent József elemi népiskola (elementary school) building and houses an ethnographic collection. The Roman Catholic church preserves frescoes from 1933, painted by Aba-Novák Vilmos and Chiovini Ferenc. Both artists are associated with the work; the frescoes are not assigned to specific areas of the church.

The Jászszentandrási Nemzetközi Rendőrszövetség-emlékpark (Jászszentandrás International Police Association Memorial Park) also has its own history: it was inaugurated in 2000, and its creation is credited to local resident Stuchlik László. A statue in the park depicts the association’s founder, Arthour Troop. Together, these places represent different themes—church art, an ethnographic collection and remembrance of the International Police Association.

Thermal Waters and Baths

The iron-rich thermal water at the baths is also considered suitable for treating rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions. The town’s history includes the discovery of thermal water beneath Jászszentandrás in the 1960s. The three-lane slide at the baths was inaugurated in 2008 and is intended for children’s summer recreation. If you are planning to use the slide during your visit, check in advance whether it is currently operational.

The baths are located in an extensive, well-kept park with mature trees; a campsite is next door. If you are considering the campsite for your overnight stay, check its current availability in advance. When looking for a holiday rental in Jászszentandrás, you can weigh up whether thermal waters and the park setting or the frescoes, collection and memorial park should be the focus of your holiday.

A Recurring Start to the Season

The Magyar Szarvasgombász Szövetség (Hungarian Truffle Hunters’ Association) holds its season-opening event in Jászszentandrás every year. For visitors, this is a different reason to travel than the baths and local history. If you would like to plan your trip around it, check the date of the event for that year in advance.
