The Danube lies to the west of Dunapataj, while Lake Szelidi lies to the east.

Lake Szelidi covers 68 hectares, is 5.3 kilometres long and 150 metres wide. The water is described as containing iodine; at the same time, it is attributed with healing properties.

Culture

Dunapataj has a Calvinist church preserving Gothic remains from the 15th century, as well as the Baroque Church of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1761. This suits a trip centred on medieval and Baroque religious architecture.

“Szelidi Summer” is described as an event series held in July and August, while “Pataji Autumn” is described as one held in September.

The local-history documents of the Pataj Museum are housed in a Unitarian church built in 1937; further pieces are displayed in the manor house and the smithy.

Getting There

Dunapataj is located on Main Road 51 between Solt and Kalocsa and has a railway station. Passenger services to Kunszentmiklós-Tass were discontinued in 2007.
