Tiria between its riverside setting and nearby destinations

Tiria is a hilly settlement in the municipality of Dodoni in the regional unit of Ioannina. The settlement lies at an elevation of 360 metres on the west bank of the Týria River and by the junction of the Egnatia Odos that shares its name. The municipality and regional unit locate the place administratively; its elevation, riverbank and road connection describe other, distinct points of reference. For travel planning, it is helpful to distinguish Tiria itself from destinations in the surrounding area. These destinations are not within Tiria, but in the places named. They differ considerably in character: the theatre represents antiquity, the monastery religious architecture, and the springs a natural setting. If you mainly want to include historic sites in your itinerary, you can consider the theatre and monastery as distinct cultural highlights. The springs offer a separate option shaped by the landscape. For families or other travel groups, this range can help when making plans together: group members do not all need to be interested in the same theme for different excursion preferences to be accommodated.

Seniko and Artopoula also help orient visitors in the surrounding area. Single-arch stone bridges stand at the entrance to the nearby village of Seniko. Their design is a distinctive architectural detail: each of these bridges has a single arch. Artopoula is also close to Tiria, at an elevation of 500 metres and seven kilometres from the Týria junction. At 360 metres, Tiria is therefore 140 metres lower than Artopoula. The seven kilometres refer to the junction, not the centre of the settlement. Elevation and distance can thus be read as two different points of orientation, each with its own reference point.
