In Southwark, the historical trail begins at Winchester Palace: on Clink Street, the surviving west and south walls of the Great Hall stand, including the rose window in the west gable. Visitors can view Winchester Palace from the outside at any time; the interior is not accessible. The remains of the Great Hall also contain a medieval-style garden. Winchester Palace is located on the Thames Path National Trail and very close to London Bridge station.

Culture

Tate Modern is located in Bankside in the London Borough of Southwark and is housed in a former power station. Admission is free, although some exhibitions charge an entrance fee. Historical traces also include the remains of King Edward III's manor house, surrounded by a moat, which are located near the Brunel Museum. Of the eight Scheduled Ancient Monuments in Southwark, six can be visited.

Nature

Southwark Park is a Grade II listed park and garden in Bermondsey near the banks of the Thames. The park covers 63 acres and includes a lake and gardens. It was designed by Alexander McKenzie and opened to the public in 1869.

Southwark Park offers open spaces for walking, picnicking and playing, as well as for enjoying the scenery. Wheelchair access is available throughout Southwark Park and in the café. The Ada Salter Garden was laid out in 1936 as a semicircular perennial garden and named after Ada Salter.

Food and drink

Borough Market comprises the three main areas of Three Crown Square, Green Market and Borough Market Kitchen. Admission is free and open to everyone. Tours of Borough Market include talks and tastings with traders.
