Hümpfershausen is part of the Thuringian Rhön. The Berghäuschen is located on the 652-metre-high Hahnberg. It was built and used as a ducal hunting lodge. After extensive construction work beginning in the 1990s, it quickly developed into a special destination for day trips. The house’s former use for hunting and its later development into a destination for day trips thus stand side by side as two chapters in its history.

Berghäuschen: History and Rhön Voices

At the Berghäuschen near Hümpfershausen, there is a small shepherd’s wagon, sheep-shaped seesaws, a photo wall and interactive information panels featuring voices from the Rhön. These elements were installed as part of a project that ran from July 2023 to February 2024. The seesaws and shepherd’s wagon add a playful touch; the photo wall provides a visual stop, while the panels focus on voices from the Rhön. This brings together a range of experiences at the destination: movement, an eye-catching spot for photos, and interactive listening and learning.

Local Amenities and Walking Connections

Hümpfershausen has a public children’s playground. The village is also listed on the Vorderrhönweg. These are different things to consider when planning a holiday: the playground is an amenity in the village, while the Vorderrhönweg offers a walking connection. For families, each provides a different point of interest.
