Nature
The Dreba-Plothen pond landscape lies at an elevation of around 500 metres above sea level and is part of the Thuringian Slate Mountains–Upper Saale Nature Park. The wider landscape area of the Dreba-Plothen pond landscape comprises around 600 remaining ponds, many of which are fed primarily by rainwater. The Dreba Ponds protected area is designated both as a Special Protection Area (SPA) under the European Birds Directive and as a Flora-Fauna-Habitat area (FFH).
History
The pond landscape has medieval origins: the original ponds were created by monks.

In the wider regional surroundings of Dreba are Ebersdorf Castle, Lobenstein New Castle, Lobenstein Old Castle and Leuchtenburg. In the surrounding area of Dreba are the parish church of St. Jodocus in Rödersdorf, the Amtsberg and the Kapfenberg. The Hohe Tanne is located in the immediate surroundings of Dreba.
Dreba
Dreba is a district of Neustadt an der Orla with an area of 12.47 km²; its first documented mention dates back to 1320.
