There is also a multimedia history experience featuring a computer-animated account of the building’s history and an interactive journey through time.

The Lower Castle in Greiz houses a museum and a textile demonstration workshop. Established in 1998, the workshop showcases the production and history of Greiz’s textile industry; children and adults can take part in the manual production process. The museum presents the continuation of its exhibition in authentic rooms. Together, these places offer a different perspective on regional history from the church and architectural history of Großbocka.

The Summer Palace in Greiz was built as a summer residence for the Princes of Reuss of the Older Line and is one of the earliest Neoclassical buildings in Central Germany. It is located in Fürstlich Greizer Park on the banks of the White Elster. The park is a 19th-century landscape garden at the foot of the wooded castle hill; the entire complex is designated a national cultural monument. The district of Greiz lies in the Thuringian Vogtland. Its landscape is shaped by upland scenery, narrow valleys with castles and palaces, plateaus, rock formations cut through by rivers, floodplains, hills, forests and cultivated landscapes.

The wider Greiz travel region also offers a variety of options for active days. In Wünschendorf, you can rent a rowing boat for a fee at the gondola station in Cronschwitz and explore the White Elster. The Kanu-Scheune in Wünschendorf offers the opportunity to build your own boat and test whether it is seaworthy; tours in ready-made canoes are also available. In Ronneburg, the “Drachenschwanz” adventure bridge is 225 metres long and forms part of a long-distance cycle route.
