Kühren: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Nature
The Kührener Teich and Surrounding Area Nature Reserve covers 79 hectares and was designated in 1994. At the centre of the protected area is a 40-hectare fishpond with an average depth of half a metre. Kührener Teich provides breeding conditions for black-necked grebes; at the same time, the breeding population there is one of the largest in Schleswig-Holstein. In summer, the pond is an important gathering place for greylag geese, while the Kührener Teich area is an important feeding ground for white-tailed eagles.
An 18-hectare area between Lake Lanker See and Kührener Teich is extensively grazed by Galloway cattle. A small birdwatching hut is available at Kührener Teich for birdwatching.
Getting Around
A 16-kilometre trail around Lake Lanker See passes both protected areas and is signposted as part of the Schusteracht cycle route. The nature surrounding the Lanker See and Kührener Teich and Surrounding Area nature reserves can be experienced on foot, by bicycle or by boat. NABU offers guided nature tours in the Lanker See and Kührener Teich area.
Culture
The historic Kührener watermill has been preserved and is listed as a protected cultural monument. The Kührener watermill is also listed among the highlighted cultural and historical attractions on Schusteracht.
