Barsbek: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Barsbek takes on a special appearance in spring: Thousands of multicoloured crocuses bloom on the village green, attracting visitors from near and far. The village green is lined with more than 60 old lime trees.

Culture

The annual traditions include Crocus Coffee, with homemade cake and handcrafted goods from the local crochet club. During the annual Probsteier Grain Days, new designs of straw figures are set up next to the municipal car park on the B 502.

Barsbek has three plank granaries, a type of construction described as cultural heritage from Slavic times. The plank granary belonging to the Sinjen and Wiese families can be seen from the road. Local food offerings also include a weekly market.

Nature

The Barsbeker See and Surroundings nature reserve can be reached by bicycle from Barsbek or from the Baltic Sea Cycle Route along the dyke. The lake within the nature reserve covers around 40 hectares of an area measuring 146 hectares. Barsbeker See is the hunting ground of a pair of white-tailed eagles.

A short route to the Baltic Sea leads through picturesque salt marshes and over an old dyke to a beach.

Cycling

Barsbek has a free e-bike charging station with four charging points at the municipal car park on the B 502. The Probstei region has kilometres of paved and well-signposted cycling and hiking trails through fields, villages, nature reserves, historic monuments and picturesque lakes.
