Geographical location

Norderwöhrden remains predominantly agricultural in character. The municipality is located west of Heide, directly at the Heide-West exit of the A 23.

There are two farm shops in Norderwöhrden, including one with an attached butcher's shop. Wischmann's farm has been family-owned for three generations and grows grain and vegetables.

A historic residential and farm building is located at Hauptstraße 2. It is listed as dating from 1803; alterations are recorded for 1914. The single-storey brick building has a half-hipped roof.

The village terp of Wellinghusen lies in the Dithmarschen coastal area and is a well-researched archaeological early medieval settlement terp. It is considered one of the oldest settlements in Dithmarschen after the Migration Period. The visible terp landscape continues to suggest the former farm terps.

The Lüttenheid Museum Island includes the Klaus Groth Museum and the Heide Local History Museum. St Bartholomew's Church is associated with the year 1160.
