Friedrichskoog: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Friedrichskoog National Park House and Seal Station provides year-round information about seals, other native marine mammals, their biology, threats and conservation measures.

Nature

The Friedrichskoog Seal Station is the only authorised facility in Schleswig-Holstein for taking in abandoned or sick seals found there. Birdwatching is possible throughout Friedrichskoog and the Wadden Sea: from the dike, the mudflats and the Trischendamm. Guided mudflat walks, birdwatching tours and salt marsh tours are offered in the Friedrichskoog area all year round. Unguided walks on the mudflats are not recommended for visitors without knowledge of the Wadden Sea.

Paths

At Trischendiek Beach, the water is often shallow; at low tide, the area becomes a wide mudflat landscape. Three ramps provide step-free access towards the water for buggies, carts and wheelchairs. The 250-metre-long north groyne at Trischendiek Beach extends towards the water and provides access to the mudflats for walks. Information boards about the Wadden Sea and its inhabitants are located on the Trischendamm. The circular walking trail in Friedrichskoog-Spitze is intended for pedestrians; quad bikes and bicycles are not permitted on it.

Cycling

The Friedrichskoog Dike Tour follows a route of around 20 kilometres from the Old Harbour to Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog and back. The Discovery Tour is a 15-kilometre cycling loop that begins at Trischendiek Beach and leads through Friedrichskoog-Ort. The cycling connection between Friedrichskoog-Ort and Friedrichskoog-Spitze passes the Old Harbour, the Seal Station, the Trischendamm and Trischendiek Beach. Bicycle hire is available in Friedrichskoog-Spitze, allowing visitors to explore Friedrichskoog by bike.

History

Since May 2019, the grounds of the Neulandhalle have been a historical learning centre with a permanent exhibition on Nazi propaganda and the ideology of the Volksgemeinschaft. The outdoor exhibition at the Neulandhalle is freely accessible; the building itself can be visited by prior appointment.
