Culture

Bunsoh’s cup-mark stone is part of the Archaeological Mile around Albersdorf. It is the largest and best-known of at least six known Albersdorf cup-mark stones. An older Bronze Age grave was discovered directly above the megalithic tomb.

The Bunsoh Mill also bears several traces of history. In 1650, it had to grind grain for Bunsoh, Offenbüttel, Spann and Steenfeld. A stone oven dating from prehistoric times was uncovered on the mill grounds. Bunsoh’s watermill switched to electricity in 1939, and milling operations ended in 1966. An old stone dated 1827 still stands beside the mill.

Trails

The historic Ox Road passes the cup-mark stone and is now a long-distance hiking trail to Hamburg. Bunsoh’s direct location on the Kiel Canal offers cycling and hiking trails.

Albersdorf can be reached by regional train from Kiel via Neumünster or from Hamburg via Heide. The North Sea–Baltic Sea Trail leads from Fischerhütte towards Bunsoh. The route towards Bunsoh runs along the edge of the forest and offers views across the Bornsbek Valley to the forests near Albersdorf. A documented hiking route passes near the L148 by a sign for the megalithic tomb and cup-mark stone cultural monument.

Water

The Quellenbad Bunsoh is a swimming pool supplied with spring water. The water passes through four preheating ponds before entering the pools. Thanks to the natural daily water exchange, no additional water-treatment additives are required.
