Königsaue: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Königsaue combines a history of settlement with traces of lignite mining and a landscape shaped by it.
History
Königsaue was founded in 1753 after the former lake had been drained to make land available for settlement. The village was part of the Aschersleben-Nachterstedt lignite mining district, one of four mining areas in the wider Seeland region. Open-cast mining at Königsaue ended in 1977.
Landscape
The former Königsaue open-cast mine was transformed into a biotope with native flora and fauna, which is now known as Königsauer See. Klintberg and Lausehügel are located near Königsaue. The surrounding area also includes Galgenberg and Graues Hoch.
Leisure
The Abenteuerland in Königsaue is an 8-hectare outdoor playground with equipment for climbing, playing and building sandcastles. The surrounding area of Königsaue is home to Raven Tower, Rectangular Shell Tower, Luisenpromenade Bastion and Johann Tower.
