The ridge path along the Devil’s Wall

The winding ridge path runs from the Großvaterfelsen to the Hamburger Wappen, crossing cliffs and passing through narrow rock crevices. This gives the route a very different character from the meadows of the Hasental Valley. The Hamburger Wappen is also checkpoint 74 on the Harzer Wandernadel hiking trail network.
Timmenrode’s history
The village’s history is also part of what defines Timmenrode. During the Thirty Years’ War (1618–1648), Timmenrode and its surroundings were heavily devastated. Records report that the church and parish house in Timmenrode were built in 1696. These two dates mark different chapters in the village’s history: a period of great destruction and later construction.
