Culture and history
The former manor church of Rogätz is a medieval fieldstone church with Romanesque and late Gothic elements, as well as preserved furnishings from the 16th century. These include a pulpit from 1570 with alabaster reliefs, a baptismal font from 1586 and an Alvensleben epitaph. The Tintenfass House next to the church houses a permanent exhibition about the stays of physicist and Nobel Prize winner Max Planck in Rogätz.
The Klutturm is the oldest building in Rogätz and the surviving tower of the former river castle. Its exhibition rooms cover local shipping, shipbuilding and the history of the village. Volunteer members of the local heritage association offer guided tours by prior arrangement.
In the Waldgut estate near Rogätz stands Heinrichshorst Hunting Lodge, a summer residence dating from 1899. The site is described as being open to the public and can be reached from Rogätz by bicycle through the forest.
Geographical location
St. Mauritius Church in Angern is located near Rogätz. In the area surrounding Rogätz are St. John’s Church in Burg, St. Peter’s Church in Burg and St. Nicholas’ Church in Burg.
Weinberg and Dornberg are also located near Rogätz. The surrounding area of Rogätz also includes Laternenberg and Butterberg.
Cycling and water
The Kanuheim is located directly on the Elbe Cycle Route and offers a riverside campsite used by canoeists and other waterway travellers. Visitors are asked to contact the club in advance.
Near Rogätz, the Elbe Cycle Route crosses the Elbe by ferry and connects the Börde district with the Jerichower Land district.
