Rehe: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The WesterwaldSteig stage to Rennerod begins directly at the town hall in Rehe. It leaves the village through meadows and pastures in the direction of the Krombachtalsperre reservoir. The signposted VR5 circular hiking trail also follows the old railway embankment and a section of the WesterwaldSteig to Rehe.

Hiking

The signposted VR5 circular hiking trail is 12.6 kilometres long and takes around 3.1 hours. The Rehe Ort bus stop is approximately 170 metres from the main route of the WesterwaldSteig. A stage of a pilgrimage route leads from Rehe to Gemünden through scenic countryside, passing the Holzbach Gorge and the collegiate church in Gemünden.

Nature

The northern part of the Krombachtalsperre reservoir is nearby and is a 26-hectare nature reserve. Visitor facilities associated with Rehe include the Krombachtalsperre reservoir with a campsite, a bathing beach and a surf school.

Guest Centre

The Christian Guest Centre Westerwald is a certified family holiday centre for individual guests, hikers, school classes, families and groups. The CGW guest centre has a 12-hectare park with space for recreation and play. The grounds also include a pond and well-developed walking paths. There is also a playground, a football area and a beach volleyball court.

History

Construction of Rehe’s unified prayer and schoolhouse began in 1738; lessons were held there until 1924. The historic prayer and schoolhouse is a medieval half-timbered building and is considered a distinctive ornament of the village. On the first floor is a prayer hall with a folk-art pulpit.
